What comes to mind when we think of Chalmers Memorial Church ?

Life in Chalmers Memorial Church is more than coming together on a Sunday for worship. From the very young to the very old, people are Getting Together at various times throughout the week to pray, study, and share their faith with others.
But people don't only Get Together within the walls of Chalmers Memorial Church ; some are involved in Getting Together with others in their own homes, residential homes, school, day centres and places of work.

What goes on outside of Chalmers Memorial Church ?

Pastoral Care
This group arranges visits to individuals in their own home, in addition to those undertaken by the Elders and the Minister.

Transport

A rota of drivers provides transport to and from the Church for those who require it.

Church Flowers
Flowers are donated to be displayed in the Church each Sunday, and then delivered after the service by a team of volunteers.

Teas and Coffee
After the morning and evening services, tea and coffee is provided to give members and visitors an opportunity to Get Together .

Overseas Concern
The Church supports Christian Aid, Tear Fund and Fair Trade by donations, sponsored events and door to door collections.

Other Activities
A monthly service takes place in Cockenzie Nursing Home where the residents enjoy fellowship with members of Chalmers. Services are also held on a regular basis for those who attend the John Bellany Centre.

The Church has an involvement with the local primary school through assemblies and class visits as well as the school attending the church for their special services during the term.

What practical help is given to Chalmers Memorial Church ?

Gardens
The Church grounds catch the eye of everyone walking past the Church. These are always kept neat and tidy but more willing hands are always welcome.

Church Hall
Our premises are well used throughout the week by many different groups. These too are also kept clean and tidy thanks to a rota of willing volunteers. Again additional help would be most welcome.

Church Buildings
Repairs and maintenance have to be carried out on our buildings on a regular basis. We are always willing to receive help from those with the necessary skills to ensure that our buildings are kept up to the highest standard.

Church Finances
There is a cost associated with running Chalmers Memorial Church . Funds are used to cover the cost of the ministry, the day to day costs of running and maintaining the buildings, as well as supporting the wider mission of the church.

This year our budgeted expenditure in total is almost £71,000. This amount is higher than our projected income and will probably result in a deficit at the year end.

Please consider prayerfully your level of giving towards the work of Chalmers Memorial Church .

If you are a tax payer we would ask you to think about giving by Gift Aid if you don't already do so. This results in the Church receiving 28p from the government for every £1 given. Please tick the appropriate box on the response card for further details.

A BIG THANK YOU FROM THE MINISTER & THE STEWARDSHIP TEAM !!!

You may be one of those involved in some of the activities mentioned above. If so we appreciate all that you do and thank you for your contribution. If on the other hand you are unaware of all that goes on within Chalmers Memorial Church we hope that that you may wish to get further involved.
